Custom plush animals from your photos or artwork
Key points
• Animal plush takes two forms: realistic animals reproduced from reference photos, and cartoon or stylised animal characters built from your artwork. The two are evaluated and sampled differently.
• For a realistic animal, evaluation comes first. Before any sampling fee is quoted, we confirm which of the animal's features — body proportions, coat colour, markings — can be reproduced in sewn form, and which have to change.
• Fabrics and pile length are matched to your reference and confirmed per project, during evaluation and sampling.
• Sampling takes 10–15 working days. Export orders start at 500 pieces per design, with 300 possible for simpler designs.
• If you do not need a custom design, our catalog carries 10 in-stock animal styles.

Realistic plush animals: from reference photos

You provide: photos of the animal — several angles if you have them — the target size, and the quantity you have in mind.
Our sampling team in Dongguan checks what the animal means in sewn form. Body proportions are checked against your target size: a shape that reads clearly in a photo can go soft or unstable once it is stuffed, and the smaller the finished size, the more fine detail drops away. Coat colours are checked for a close fabric match. Markings split two ways: large patches and clear colour blocks transfer directly, while fine patterns — thin striping, speckling, gradual colour blends — usually become printed fabric or layered pieces instead of individual sewn detail.
You confirm: the changes the evaluation proposes, before sampling starts. If part of the animal cannot be reproduced as photographed, you hear it at this stage, with the closest workable version suggested — not after the prototype is sewn.

Cartoon and stylised animal characters

The second route starts from artwork rather than photographs: an original animal character of your own, or a licensed character in animal form. Here the proportions follow your character design, not the real animal — a large head, a short body, colours no animal has. Evaluation then checks the design the same way it checks any character: what holds stuffing at your size, which details need embroidery rather than print, and where the pattern forces a change of form.
If your project is a character first and an animal second, our page for IP creators covers that side in more depth. This page is for buyers whose starting point is the animal itself.

Fabrics and pile length

There is no fixed fabric list for animal plush, because the right choice depends on the animal and the size. Pile length changes how the finished piece reads: a longer pile sits closer to fur but softens markings and facial detail, while a short pile keeps markings, eyes and muzzle lines sharp. Colour comes from the same decision — the fabric is matched against your reference photos or artwork, and the match is confirmed on the prototype, where you can see it, rather than from a swatch name on a quote sheet.
You confirm: fabric and pile on the sampling prototype. If the match is wrong, the revision rounds are where it gets corrected.

Who buys custom animal plush

Zoos and museum retail shops order plush versions of specific animals — the species visitors come to see, in sizes that suit a gift-shop shelf. For them the realistic route is usually the point: the animal has to be recognisable as that species, not a generic bear or cat.
Brands and online stores order animal-themed product lines: a house animal character, a seasonal animal range, a plush line built around one species. Some take the cartoon route with their own artwork; some brief a realistic animal and put their label on the finished piece. Both routes run through the same sampling and order terms below.

Stock animal styles in the catalog

Our product catalog has an Animal Plush Figures section with 10 in-stock animal styles. They are ready-made designs, and they double as a reference for range: the animal types, sizes and constructions we already produce. The catalog page lists each style with photos and details, and stock styles can carry your logo and packaging. If a stock style is close to what you want but not exact, tell us what would have to change — changes to the animal itself normally mean a custom design, which starts with evaluation and sampling as described above.

Sampling, MOQ and production time

Sampling follows the same terms as every custom design we make. The fee is assessed from your reference (starting from ¥500) and covers pattern making, up to 3 revision rounds, and 1 final prototype; sampling takes 10–15 working days, and overseas sample freight is prepaid by the buyer. When a single design reaches a 500-piece bulk order, the sampling fee is credited against that order. Export orders start at 500 pieces per design, with 300 possible for simpler designs (the full breakdown is in our MOQ & Sampling Guide). Bulk production takes about 30–60 days; orders of 50,000 pieces and up run 45–60 days. Export payment is 50% deposit and 50% before shipment, EXW and tax excluded; freight is the buyer's, and we can introduce a freight forwarder we work with. The full process, step by step, is on our production process page.

Questions buyers ask us

Can you reproduce a real animal exactly? No sewn copy is exact, and we will not claim otherwise. Evaluation exists to settle this before you commit: which features will match — proportions, base colour, large markings — and which will change form, such as fine fur patterns becoming print or layered fabric. What bulk production copies is the prototype you approved, so the time to judge the likeness is at sampling, with the physical piece in hand. What do you need from me to start? For a realistic animal, clear photos are enough — several angles help, and tell us the target size. For a cartoon animal character, your artwork or character sheet. A tech pack is not required; the production pattern is built during sampling. Can I put my own branding on a catalog style? Yes — the in-stock animal styles in the catalog can carry your logo and packaging. Changing the animal itself (its colours, proportions or size) is a different job: that is a custom design, and it starts with evaluation and a sampling fee quote based on your reference.
Next step
Use the Product Information form on this page. It asks for a product name, a target size in cm, the quantity per design, your contact details, and a reference image: upload your animal photos or character artwork there, and add your destination country and target date in the requirements field if you have them. That gives us everything needed to run the evaluation and reply with the sampling fee for your animal.
